Originally constructed as naval base in the 19th century, the harbor has played a pivotal role in Britain's costal defense, particularly during both World War's,
Exercise Tiger was one of the most tragic and lesser-known events of World War II, a large-scale D-Day rehearsal that took place off Lyme Bay in April 1944.
